The John Blue Festival

2009

The John Blue Festival was a success even with the scattered showers we had.I took a few pics and i hope you like them.A few are of my friends who do beautiful work.

We are putting all our fall stuff on sale for 50% off.Getting ready for our Christmas displays.Last week i got in a huge tree and i'm going to Prim it up.
Rag garlands,prim angels,hand made ornaments etc.Next is the window.I am trying to get ideas for the window.So, if you send me pics,suggestions and tips that can make my display beautiful i will send you a special gift.

I'm suppose to get in some pie safes and wood items this week.I met a crafters at the festival who makes wood crafts that are out of this world.There were just so many good crafters that i just chose a few to take pics .
I am going to be posting Christmas recipes this week.I found this old cook book with the best recipes and im going to share these.They are easy,tasty,and very inexpensive to make.

Fall is here!This is my favorite time of the year.I love the colors,pumpkins,
gords,and all the fall festivals.October-fest here is the best.Also all the pies and breads made from pumpkins and sweet potatoes.If your from the south you know how good sweet potatoes pies are.I bake for everyone.My pies are the best so they say.
This week i have been making pumpkins and apples.I use muslin and paint the pumpkins.I have bowl fillers too.Here are a few pics from the shop.If you're interested in any of the items you see, email me.

I'm Trying to add more pictures.I thought these pumpkins and beautiful mums were so gorgeous.They're for sale across from my shop.If you live near by stop and buy a few!




I came across these pumpkins at Wal-mart.There's just something about white pumpkins.I decided to make a few from muslin add leaves a bunch of moss and raffia tie.Turned out great!I also made a few table-runners and tea towels with pumpkins.Hope you like all of the pics.
It was a busy week at the shop.I started making goodiebags to give away to customers who buy $25-$50.The idea came from a quilt shop.The owner had large brown shopping bag filled with all kinds of great stuff so i decided to try it.It has really increased my sales.It's really not taking away anything from making a profit since i was making extras.The response has been great.

I have been busy making tarts.I'm giving a "Thank You For Stopping By" gift to everyone who comes by.We are having refreshments and door prizes too.So if you're near Rockingham,N.C., come by.We're located next to Lowe's.
We got in a lot of new items this week.Barn stars,pottery,Candles and i got in on consignment a king size yo-yo Quilt that is lined.It's beautiful and in excellent condition.It's priced at $250.00 but the price is negotiable.
Well got to go and get busy.Lots to do this week.New pictures coming soon too.Today we leave to on our crafting and antiquing ventures.We all get in the SUV and head out of town.Hope to find lots of goodies.

First of all let me apologize for my lateness.I have been sick an d its been a very tough time.Let me say "im back".Gina you will get your prize.Hope you enjoy it.
As for the shop.Yesterday we rearranged and added tons of new stuff.The displays really look nice.I added some new quilted items.nesting boxes,candles,signs.potpourri and oils.
Now its time to get ready for my festivals coming up.I need a lot of stuff to take to two day festivals.

Well this next week is going to be so busy.I need to make a doz. of table runners tobacco ladders for my fall table runners.I have some patterns from "meme".I love her patterns.I just ordered some for the shop to go with the honey and me fabric line we are going to start selling.
Our fabrics will be up for sale in two weeks.I'll be selling on my blog,my fabrics by the fat quarters and by the yard.Here are my pics.Hope you enjoy them.Blessings Jan

My next project is planning for all my October Fest coming up.I have a lot to do.I am so busy i hired a girl yesterday to help me in the shop.It's only for part time but any help will be a appreciated.I got in the nicest stacking boxes and signs yesterday and orange/clove rose hips .The rose-hips smell out of this world.
I thought about making Candles this week.I made around 100 tarts and all with real spices-clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and scented with sugar cookie and vanilla scents.People cant buy enough.I'm doing the barn star,Blessings,Simplify on my dipped pillar candles.They are so simple to make if you like painting on candles.these are quite expensive it you buy them but you save a lot making your own.
I'm looking for an out let to buy scented oil-i bought some scented oils at a shop not long ago called "Primitive Gatherings" but i cant find where to buy them wholesale.If anyone knows please let me know.Ive searched the web but i cant seem to find it.Please let me know.

Lot's of new things in the store this week.I got in tons of Rose-hip Fixins-Apple Cinnamon, Cinnabun and Orange Spice.Also got some great smelling Candles.It seems like im always rearranging the shop everything i get new stuff in i have to make room to display it.The Shop is "Full".Still waiting on more orders to come in.
It's almost time for the Contest to end.Hope for the best.I think the prize will be a big surprise.I noticed a lot of sites list their prizes.Surprises are fun.
Today is going to be another busy day.Im working on my Prairie Dolls.I hope to get a dozen made.I have two Festivals coming up.I also plan to visit Jen at Just Country for her customer appreciation Sale Saturday.If you're in the area go see her.Her shop is so Beautiful.

Hope everyone had a Happy 4th.Our "Christmas" in July is coming up along at the shop.We got our tree up and we decided to decorate it with mini plates,sheep,stars,cinnamon stick bunches,sweet Annie bunches,homespun bows and salt dough ornies.When I'm finished I'll post some pics.Hope it turns out great.Got in a lot of new stuff at the shop.Paper mache boxes,plates,barn stars,gallons of rose hips and much more.Now i have to decorate all over again.
Our contest is going on til July 17.I promised to include with the country Annie doll some surprises.Since i got so many prim items,this is going to be a great give away.So far tho i only have 5-6 people to enter.Where are you people!?Enter for some "Great" stuff!Blessings,Jan
